Augustana Regent’s Resident Services Coordinator Receives Family Life Educator Credential

Augustana Regent’s Resident Services Coordinator Amanda Hanson received the National Council on Family Relations’ Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) designation in April, 2019.

Hanson attended South Central College, where she completed her AAS in Community Social Services in 2015. She then, attended Concordia University, St. Paul online where she earned her BA in Family Science, focus in Family Life Education (FLE) in 2017. Amanda completed her required fieldwork hours working at Roosevelt Elementary School in Mankato, MN and at Augustana Regent at Burnsville as the Resident Services Coordinator, where she currently is employed. Amanda possesses expertise in helping individuals and their family’s navigate family dynamics, education on the human lifespan, and provides professional research based advice on family topics.

The CFLE designation recognizes professionals in the family field as qualified family life educators.  The credential denotes a proven background and knowledge in ten Family Life Content Areas including: Families and Individuals in Societal Context, Internal Dynamics of Families, Human Growth and Development, Human Sexuality, Interpersonal Relationships, Family Resource Management, Parent Education, Family Law and Public Policy, Professional Ethics and Practice, and Family Life Education Methodology.  There are currently over 1,500 Certified Family Life Educators.

Family life educators work in a variety of settings including service agencies, mental health centers, colleges and universities, community education, secondary and elementary schools, military family support centers, corporations, family planning agencies, hospitals, day care centers, faith-based organizations, education departments, and private practice.
