Fargo Elim is well on its way toward reopening to welcome the Fargo Elim family back home.
Today, Fargo Elim is excited to announce the public phase of its “Returning Home” capital campaign. This campaign aims to close a $1 million gap in funding to help build a state-of-the-art care center, replacing the building that was lost in a fire.
Thirty-One Donors Took the Lead
A campaign committee made up of local volunteers was assembled in 2021. They worked behind the scenes to connect with local community leaders and businesses and secured a strong foundation to officially launch the campaign. Thanks to the incredible generosity of leaders in the Fargo-Moorhead community, Fargo Elim is currently at 47% of the $1 million goal. Thirty-one donors came together to raise $466,500, and the list of supporters is growing.
You Can Join Them!
Fargo Elim is excited to invite the broader community to join with these leaders to reach $1 million. Many naming opportunities are still available and start at $2,000. You can also make a pledge, with the option to pay it off over one to three years. Please consider joining this worthy cause. Checks may be sent to Fargo Elim, 3540 University Drive S, Fargo, ND 58104.
Since 1968, Fargo Elim has served countless older adults and their loved ones, providing excellent care and a unique, tight-knit family culture—all by fostering fullness of life for older adults in the spirit of Christ’s love. After a devastating fire in January of 2020, residents had to be relocated and staff lost jobs. Fargo Elim’s leadership team was humbled to hear this statement over and over as they checked in on residents, families and staff: “I want to come back. Fargo Elim is my home.”
Thanks to incredible staff united around a mission to foster fullness of life, Fargo Elim was able to create a distinct experience. Both residents and staff felt that they were part of a family, and that Fargo Elim was “home.”
“Home” Was Far From Perfect—the New Building Will Be So Much More
The physical building they called home was the nursing home of the 1960s: sterile, practical, efficient. Equipment like boilers and kitchen appliances was nearly due for replacement. The building was designed in an age before community and activities were a top priority, so there was limited common space.
Fargo Elim is grateful for the opportunity to build a skilled nursing care center of the 21st century, complete with private rooms and the warmth, homey-ness and amenities today’s elders and future generations need to thrive.
After two years without a care center, Fargo Elim is eagerly looking ahead to the summer of 2022 when they will hold a grand reopening and welcome old and new residents and staff “home.”
The cost to create this beautiful, state-of-the-art home is approximately $19.5 million. Because the insurance payout is determined based on what was lost—a 1960s nursing home—Fargo Elim faces a total funding gap of $9.5 million. $8.5 million will be provided through financing and any grants that can be secured, leaving a gap of $1 million. For this, Fargo Elim has turned to the community of Fargo-Moorhead.
Please consider investing in this special opportunity to help the Fargo Elim family return home. If you are interested in making a donation, we would love to talk with you. Please feel free to reach out.
